Still Sick...Seriously!

Tired of being sick; sick of being tired. Pretty much we're all just sick and tired...STILL. Mallory is felling somewhat better, but Anna Claire is still struggling a bit...and then the darn Bradford pears bloomed this weekend. Allergies.

I hope we have a better health report soon.

Back to the Zoo

The day was too beautiful to not spend it outside and the girls got a good night's sleep with minimal coughing, so we headed up to the zoo and had a great time. This was the girls' second trip to the zoo. I guess they consider themselves experts now and insisted on holding the map and pointing us in the direction of the "amimals" they wanted to see next.
From the moment we walked through the gate, all Mallory talked about was wanting to see the giraffes...and they did not disappoint. The girls first fed the giraffes last spring, and I am still so amazed at how brave they are. I think this was the highlight for the girls.

The highlight for me was seeing the new baby baboon. Mommy and baby were so far away and I've cropped this picture as much as I can, but I think you can still see him. So cute!

Taking a ride on the back of an iguana {or some other big lizard}...

I think it took a little while for Anna Claire to realize it wasn't real. She kept asking me if he was moving.

Anna Claire and Mallory have always loved animals, but I think all the Diego episodes we've been watching lately {new favorite} made them feel like they were on safari today!

Valentine's Day Rewind

We are still sick around here, so I have yet {until right now} to write anything about the rest of our Valentine's Day fun. In addition to making cupcakes and preparing Valentine's for the girl's class party, we also engaged in a little art work for the grandparents. Sadly, Grandmom has yet to receive hers because Mommy can't quite get her act together this week, so...Happy Valentine's Day, Grandmom!
Just take a look at those hand~print hearts. They speak volumes about the girls' personalities.

And here are Anna Claire and Mallory enjoying their Valentine's cupcakes...

I felt the girls had recovered enough from the flu to go to school Tuesday for their class party, and I really wanted them to wear the special Valentine's outfits I sewed for them. It seems they had a great time at school, and they came home with bags of Valentines and plenty of candy. Unfortunately, I did not get any pictures of them in their outfits because I forgot my camera Tuesday morning and Granny froze hers by  leaving it in her car in NC when it was 4 degrees one night. I was hoping Mrs. Lori might send some pics from the party but no luck there, so the girls might be sportin' their Valentines duds again this weekend just for fun!

Tuesday night Mallory started coughing and we all stopped sleeping, so the girls missed school again Thursday. Last night was much better, however, but I daresay we are all on the mend {I really don't want to "early call it" because we have been sick for so long}.

Thankfully, this weekend is supposed to be warm and sunny, and we plan to play outside as much as possible soaking up some vitamin D and breathing the fresh air.

Happy Valentine's Day

These are the cupcakes the girls and I made yesterday. Yummy, but they don't all look this cute. Anna Claire and Mallory had a little too much fun with the sprinkles. And the candy canes left over from Christmas made perfect Valentine hearts.

I had hoped to present you with a picture of the girls wearing the Valentine's t-shirts I made them and smiling a big "Happy Valentine's Day" smile for you, but they would have no part of changing their clothes yesterday. Since the girls only go to play school Tuesday and Thursday mornings and will have their class party Tuesday, we're celebrating Valentine's Day until then around here, so maybe I'll still have a shot of taking a cute picture.

We hope you have a lovely day!

Be My Valentine

With all the sickness we have been passing around our house for weeks and weeks, we are way behind on our Valentine's Day fun.

This morning I helped the girls with their Valentines for their play school party Tuesday. Anna Claire has princess valentines and Mallory has mermaid valentines {I searched long and hard for "cute" Valentines}. I wrote names on the cards and the girls put stickers all over them and colored on them. They also colored on cards for some other very special Valentines of theirs which will be delivered Monday!

How Do I Know Anna Claire and Mallory are Feeling Better?

Because they're at it again...grumbling with each other. Things like, "Mallory is looking at my bed," and "Anna Claire's monkey touched my leg."

Seriously?

You bet.

Things are finally getting back to normal around here. Yippee!

When it Rains it Pours

After yesterday's sunshine it is raining here again today...and it looks like the girls have the flu.

Things did not get better for the girls yesterday, bless their hearts. This is absolutely the sickest they have ever been. Their temperatures soared {104.2 was the highest on record for either girl}, Mallory experienced a febrile seizure {scared me to death}, both girls started vomiting at about the same time, and all that sent us to the Children's ER at MUSC.

They've been doing a little better today and are napping now. I am hoping their temps don't shoot back up this afternoon, which was the trend over the weekend.

The Sun is Out and the Temperatures are Rising

After days and days of cold, clouds, and rain, the sun finally peeked out again today and temperatures ~ the girls' temperatures ~ began to rise.

Anna Claire and Mallory have been running temps in the neighborhood of 102-103 since yesterday afternoon. Other than feeling crummy and not having much of an appetite, the don't seem to have any real flu symptoms {they had the flu shot}. They both took two~hour naps today and now, Mallory is curled up in the living room watching cartoons and Anna Claire is still cuddled up in our bed dozing in an out. I think if their fevers aren't down by the morning we'll be making a trip to the doctor.

It Was a Great Day...

Tonight the girls and I were dancing at the end of Fresh Beat Band {trying to make the best of my least favorite of the girls' most favorite shows}. I asked Mallory to show me how she "gets down" and she stopped dancing and sat on the floor. Goober!

Donuts with Daddy

Last week Walter went to school with the girls in the morning for "Donuts with Daddys." I wasn't there, so I am so glad Mrs. Lori sent home some pictures. Can you see Walter wearing one of the silly ties the girls made...
Despite the look on Mallory's face, I was told everyone had a great time eating donuts and drinking apple juice!
