Memorial Day

Since our Mother's Day cook~out was a complete wash~out a few weeks ago, we thought we'd try again for Memorial Day, and what do you know? A tropical storm showed up. Between rain bands, though, the girls were able to get some swimming in. Too bad I wasn't able to get more pictures...trying to keep my camera dry was not easy!

We sold two toddler beds and two crib/toddler bed mattresses in under a week on Craigslist all for my full asking price!

You know what that means...the girls are in twin beds now...with new mattresses, quilts, pillows, sheets, and curtains.

Poor Sweetie

Anna Claire got a few ant bites out by the pool today. Through her tears and frustration she cried, "When Cody and Tanner went to dog heaven they were supposed to woof to God not to let there be any more ants to bite me!"

Sweet girl.

School's Out for Summer

{for the girls, at least}
Last Tuesday was Anna Claire and Mallory's last day of three~year~old playschool. It is so hard for me to believe another school year is over and they will be FOUR in exactly two weeks!

After they let me take some pictures of them at home, we celebrated the end of their school year with all the Tuesday/Thursday classes at the playground!

 Singing their hearts out...
 The girls with their wonderful teacher...
Not much else to report. Birthday party plans are in FULL swing. We've been cleaning, sewing, shopping, and decorating like crazy around here!

Mother's Day Wash~Out

It rained all day on mother's day, but playing with their new umbrellas {instead of swimming in the pool} was just fine with Anna Claire, Mallory, and Dylan.

Happy Mother's Day

Tuesday was the Mother's Day Tea at Anna Claire and Mallory's playschool. They sang a few sweet songs, we ate muffins and cucumber sandwiches and drank tea, and the girls each gave me flowers planted in tea cups along with a booklet full of photos their teachers took throughout the school year and some other precious artwork. They were so excited I could be there, and I would not have missed it for anything!

Happy Mother's Day!!

Is the Weekend Really Over?

For a while now I would have told you that Disney princesses and My Little Pony were running neck and neck in popularity with the girls, but recently, the ponies have taken the lead. This was a pony picnic...lots of tiny pieces.
Don't get me wrong, this isn't a daily habit yet, but on the weekends the girls usually like to make their beds...they do a really good job and are very proud of themselves {so am I}.

Friday I lugged home a twin mattress from my parents' house so I could "see" the girls' room with twin beds. So, we've pretty much decided that the following are not options {for various reasons}
  • converting the playroom to their bedroom
  • splitting them up ~ one in the current room and one next door in the spare room/art room/sewing room
  • bunk beds
That leaves us with the only option of twin beds in the same exact spot as the current toddler beds ~ which means the closet door will have to come off. Floor space will be limited, but since the girls don't do much but sleep in their rooms, I'm not too worried about that {yet}.
This afternoon was Brennan's birthday at The Little Gym. The girls  had a blast and asked if they could have their birthday party there. Oops. Had to remind them we'd already ordered invitations and our party will be at home this year {details to come}.

Back home, the girls picked right up where they left off by constructing Equestria complete with Canterlot Castle, Apple Jack's barn and the Everfree Forest.
Our dinner table entertainment...Anna Claire showed us how she could cross one eye. This is the freakiest thing I've ever seen. She told us it's how she makes copies of us {I guess she is seeing double???}.
As if we already weren't laughing so hard we were crying, I thought I'd ask her to roll her tongue, too. What a goober!
 Family Fun Fact: Anna Claire and I are tongue rollers; Walter and Mallory are not!

It's Finally Friday!

Anna Claire and Mallory are pretty much recovered from bronchitis...just a couple more days of prednisone. They went back to playschool yesterday and dance class Wednesday night ~ and weren't we so excited that the recital costumes are in!? They're brown!! Yay!! They are dancing to The Lion Sleeps Tonight/I Just Can't Wait to be King and that means they must be dressed as little lion cubs. Cute!

I'm not sure if my sarcasm is translating through my writing, but all that matters is that the girls really are excited. Anna Claire ran around the studio roaring and Mallory wouldn't stop smiling. Nevertheless, every Wednesday we look at the big poster in the waiting room with the pictures of all the recital costumes and the ones they ooh and ahhh over every time are the costumes that look like princesses and brides, and those really are beautiful costumes. But, they seem to be happy with their brown lion costumes {thank goodness} and that's enough to make me happy, too.
