Happy Halloween!

Anna Claire and Mallory had a very happy Halloween this evening. Our two silly little clowns had lots of fun visiting all their grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. They got lots of treats and no tricks. Thank you, everyone, for all the goodies!

The girls were all smiles (mostly) throughout the evening, and they were just adorable in their clown costumes; I just wish I had gotten a few photos that showed off the costumes a little better. I am quite proud their costumes held up. The funniest thing, though, is that Mallory was climbing up into the seat of the lawnmower with papa and her costume got caught on a bolt which ripped a huge hole in the seat of her costume. I had to laugh!

It's still not easy getting a shot of both girls sitting still and smiling... Anna Claire's making a run for it!
The girls decided to take a break in the swing. Today it was H-O-T. I dabbed some hot pink lipstick on their noses which quickly melted off since it was 85 degrees outside this afternoon.
Anna Claire decided she wanted to jump on the trampoline - perfect for a little clowning around. Ha ha!The girls had too much fun playing in a huge pile of leaves!

Can't wait until next year...already thinking of costume ideas.

On the Mend

I think the girls may be on the mend...

...but I somehow just accidentally deleted my entire post - all but the line above. :-( Trust me, you didn't want all the icky details anyway. It was a long night for us all, but a better day for Anna Claire and a so-so day for Mallory. Hopefully this bug will be gone for good once the girls wake up in the morning.

Sick Babies

Anna Claire and Mallory are sick tonight. Mallory started throwing up followed shortly thereafter by Anna Claire just before I got to my parents' house this afternoon. Both girls threw up in the car on the ride home, multiple times before bed, and we've just had to change Anna Claire's crib sheets - she spit up her last sips of Pedialyte. They aren't running a fever, but they also are not keeping anything down - not even the Pedialyte. I was able to get a call in to the pediatrician before they closed, and I feel like we have a plan, but I am still worried about dehydration.

Both girls are sleeping right now. I hope my sick babies are feeling much better tomorrow morning.

Weekend Update

(the short version -- all interesting details omitted)

The girls are teething and Mallory has a runny nose. This has been a very fussy weekend for the girls and their Mommy though interspersed with some fun times. So, here's an abbreviated update because I. Am. Exhausted.

Friday we went to the Pumpkin Patch at KUMC which is just around the corner from our neighborhood. We met Aunt Michelle, Connor, & Dylan, we went on a short hayride, the girls got to run around, and we didn't even buy a pumpkin! Afterwards, we made a quick stop at Walter's office so the girls could show off their cuteness to all the ladies who work there
Saturday, we went to Cousin Ricky's going away party. He technically "went away" to his new job in Georgia a few weeks ago but came home so we could all officially say 'bye. The girls had fun getting outside and running around before the rain came.
Today it was c-o-l-d, but we did get out this afternoon once the sun came out and warmed things up a bit.

Silly Girls!

Most nights either right before bath time or right before bedtime, Anna Claire and Mallory like to get silly. They run up and down the hall shrieking, pretending to fall down and laughing about it, rolling around on the floor and onto each other, and always getting the cutest case of the giggles.

"She'll be coming 'round the corner when she comes..." That's what we sing.

Love sister...
So sad this one is not in focus!

Yard Work

The weather was so nice today (a pleasant change from all the rain we had yesterday), and since it looks like tomorrow is going to be cool and rainy again - and since the girls we already pretty dirty from playing outside all day at Grandmom's - we were able to enjoy the mild temperatures this afternoon before supper.

Mallory is getting her bubble mower ready to go.

She sure is working hard. I'll bet Walter wishes that mower really worked! I think he'd like a little help with the yard work.Anna Claire and Mallory both enjoyed playing in their sand box.
Anna Claire also got into the act of "mowing" the lawn. Just look at those dirty pants!!!
Checking under the hood...
I guess the girls couldn't fix whatever was broken. ;-) Poor Anna Claire has to push her buggy across the yard...Mallory is showing me a bug. You can't see the bug because she is pinching it between her fingers. EEWWW!!!

Too bad we won't be enjoying the great outdoors tomorrow. It seems certain that rain is coming. :-(

Big Shoes to Fill

Anna Claire and Mallory love wearing shoes (I must be doing something right!).

It's never a struggle to get them to put shoes on, and Mallory especially loves trying on Mommy's shoes. She even tried walking in Walter's flip flops this weekend... ...and she gets very upset when they fall off. Or when she falls down because they're too big. She gets back up, though, and tries putting them right back on. Instead of walking, she sort of slides her feet along the floor so she can keep "her" shoes on both feet.

We went shoe shopping again this weekend. I am finding it very difficult to find two pairs of shoes in the same size in the same store.

The mornings have been cool recently, so before things warmed up, we decided to take the girls to the playground this morning. We started on the swings and moved to the merry-go-round. Neither Anna Claire nor Mallory would stay seated, so we moved on to the slide.I was shocked that both girls wanted to go down the slide all by themselves - over and over and over again. They are so brave. Wait, maybe fearless is a better word.Anna Claire got very excited when she noticed the "mouse" teeter-totter. Yes, she also has a thing for mice, in addition to frogs. She loves pointing out the little mouse (which she pronounces mou) in her "That's Not My..." books, and to see a huge mouse bigger than she is just made her day!Mallory was content much of the time to play in the sand. She sure was dirty when we left.
