Merry Christmas!

Our Christmas cards have been stuck in a FedEx container in
Atlanta all week and likely won't make it into your mailboxes before Christmas, so here's the virtual version of our Christmas card wishing you a very merry Christmas!

Halloween Tid~Bits

Happy Halloween from Tinkerbell and Periwinkle!

It's fun to stretch out holidays for as long as we can, but there never seems to be time to do everything {example: caramel apple supplies are still sitting on our kitchen counter ~ maybe this weekend!}. we've sure squeezed a lot in, though!

We painted pumpkins...

We "dressed up" for Halloween at school...
They could have worn costumes to school, but they had to be characters from a story book. I probably could have justified Tinkerbell and Periwinkle {we do have a book}, but there was no way I was letting their costumes get ruined on a PE day, and I certainly couldn't whip up another costume! Instead, I made these cute spider t-shirts, and they could not have been happier to wear them. Love that!!

We carved our pumpkin...
{okay, technically Daddy carved our pumpkin; Anna Claire and Mallory pretended to make pumpkin soup from the pulp and seeds ~ what a mess!}

Finally it was time to trick~or~treat!
The girls could not have been happier with their costumes. Granny made them and they turned out great!! Thankfully, it was another warm Halloween...

Less that an hour of trick~or~treating and they were ready to come home and give out candy! They were in bed and fast asleep before 8pm!

We've had a great week, and we hope you have, too!

Kindergarteners at the Corn Maze!

Yesterday I was lucky enough to chaperon the girls' field trip to the West Farm Corn Maze ~ this is the fourth year in a row we've visited West Farm, and the children always have the best time!! The weather was perfect again this year. Here are just a few pics of our fun:

Decorating pumpkins...

Class pic...

Hay ride...

Playing in the corn...

My precious little pumpkins...

Friday night was the Halloween carnival at the girls school. It was an old~fashioned school carnival; very well~organized and well~attended, but honestly, we tried to talk the girls out of going. I knew they were tired and it was COLD that night. They had fun for about the first hour or so, then we got in the mile~long line for balloon animals. The sun began to set, it got even colder, and that's when the party ended. Needless to say, we left without balloon animals!

This is the one and only picture I took:

We sure hope you are having an awesome Halloween week! I can't wait to post pictures of the girls trick~or~treating. Their costumes are almost finished!

InstaFriday ~ a Peek at Our Week

Hey, friends and family! Here's my attempt at a quick peek at our week. I find myself using my phone to snap pics more and more frequently these days {though I still love my DSLR}, so I enjoyed sharing my phone pics this summer…until things got busy. Maybe I can try again to start a habit of updating more frequently.

Here we go…

Here's Anna Claire picking out her glasses. These aren't the frames she went with ~ they didn't come in purple! Watching her in the exam room was fascinating to me ~ how she aced the eye test with her right eye but bombed it when only using her left eye. She was such a trooper during the exam. She'd cheer herself on when she got a letter or picture right with a "woot!" and when she wasn't sure of a letter she say, "I'm gonna have to go with a 'c'" for example.  She was too cute and chatted up the optometrist.

Saturday we went to Disney on Ice. We all had a great time. The girls were on their best behavior and enjoyed every second of the show! Of course, we came home with Flounder and Pascal. We are getting tons of wear out of their aqua chevron pants from last spring…it was fun to whip up the  coordinating Minnie Mouse t-shirts for them to wear. This appliqué is cute and fast ~ love that!

Pumpkin time!

Last weekend I made chocolate chip pumpkin mini~muffins. Yum! These are addictive, and I think part of that's because they are bite~sized.

The girls have been fighting a cold, so after making a quick trip to the doctor Sunday, we popped into Dunkin Donuts. The pumpkin donuts were amazing; the pumpkin pie cream filled variety were a disappointment, in my opinion.

Anna Claire's glasses finally came in.  She could not have been more excited!! I already did a little post on that earlier this week, and I am pleased to say she is still doing a great job, though her eyes are pretty tired by the end of the day which we were told to expect.

Tuesday before dance class we walked around and enjoyed the Scarecrows on the Square. Since the scarecrows are on town square just across from dance class, we've made it a tradition to visit on dance class nights!

Yesterday we popped by the pumpkin patch to pick the perfect pumpkin. Honestly, Anna Claire was tired and the pumpkins were pretty picked over, so we didn't have as much fun as I had hoped. I only managed to get one quick pic.

Ocerall, I'd say we had a great week. Hope you all have a great weekend, everyone!

Annie C.

I'm not sure what's happening to my little blog...I never seem to find the time anymore, and I'm bothered by all the memories and milestones I'm not recording here.

One recent milestone I could not let go unmentioned, however, is Anna Claire getting glasses!

How cute is she? She picked her own frames ~ they are purple with pink and aqua flowers on the sides. She loves them!

Not too long ago, before we even knew there was a problem with her vision, we read Junie B. Jones: First Grader at Last. Junie B. gets glasses...purple ones! Needless to say, Anna Claire was over the moon with the idea of getting glasses. We picked out her frames last week {you might have seen a pic on Instagram or Facebook}, and they finally came in Monday. I didn't think she would be able to wait that long; you would have thought it was Christmas morning we were waiting on!

Just a couple days in and she is still happily wearing her glasses and being super responsible with them. Let's hope that lasts a long time!

Presenting, Annie C. ~

School Pictures ~ Kindergarten

Anna Claire and Mallory's school pictures came in this week, and I'd say the expressions on their faces pretty much sum up how they each felt about kindergarten those first few weeks...
One day, I know we will look pack on this picture of Anna Claire and laugh {actually, we're kinda laughing now}. She's thinking, I'm not gonna smile and you can't make me. Sweet thing had a hard time adjusting those first few weeks, but now the tears are all dried up and she's doing great.

Mallory, on the other hand, walked through the doors of KA and never looked back.

Still can't believe they are in kindergarten ~ they are reading, writing, adding,...and recovering from their first case of pink eye. Kindergarten ROCKS!

Pontooning on the River

To celebrate a successful first week of kindergarten, we spent Sunday at the river. The weather was gorgeous ~ blue skies, not too hot, and low humidity. It could not have been a more perfect day for a boat ride!

Mallory and Anna  Claire tok turns driving the boat. they kept calling Walt "Captain Daddy" {Captain Hook, Captain Jack Sparrow, Captain Barnacles, Captain Daddy...makes sense, right?}.

First Day of Kindergarten!

Hey, friends and family! It sure has been a long time since my last post...and so MUCH has been going on! Good thing I see most of the people who read this blog on a regular basis or y'all would have no clue what was going on in our lives. Are you following along on Instagram? I barely even find the time to share pics there ~ and I was doing pretty good for a little while.

We sure have had a busy and exciting summer to say the least, but hands down the most exciting thing that has happened around here in a long time is Anna Claire and Mallory starting kindergarten. I am so happy to report that tomorrow marks the one~and~a~half week point and they love it! Most of it, at least. We are still working out a few things like our morning routine, car rider line, making new friends,...but it hasn't even been two weeks, so I'd say we're ALL doing pretty awesome!

Here are just a few pics from the first day. NO TEARS...from any of us! I like to say that's because we all had a pretty rough time at meet the teacher {a little overwhelming to say the least}. I'm glad we all had that chance to get the butterflies out of our tummies, so we could start the first day on the right foot!!

Here's to a great year in kindergarten! {fingers crossed.}

InstaFriday ~ A Sneak Peek at Our Week

We're back from the beach and I still haven't made time to share a proper post on Disney, so who knows when I'll get around to sharing all the fun we had at the beach this summer. Counter tops are in, faucets are in {mostly}, bedroom carpet is in {finally}. It's been a busy, messy week around here, so I am loving this little look back at life at the beach...

One of our favorite things to do at the beach {there are so many} is to take evening golf cart rides. On this particular night the ocean breeze and setting sun lulled Mallory to sleep in no time!

Have you read The Language of Flowers? I devoured it at the beach ~ I loved every word of it and highly recommend it.
On our last night we took a walk on the beach and what did we see but a rainbow over the ocean ~ so pretty!
The girls and I have been enjoying trips our trips to the library this summer. Here's my lineup for the next three weeks...
Sweet Frog opened while we were at the beach, so after going to see Monster's University today, the girls and I had our first chance to stop in for the yummiest frozen yogurt. I can see this becoming an addiction!

We hope you've had a great week, as well!
