I'm Not Bald; I'm Hair~Headed!

Really, we're lucky it hasn't happened by now...and that it wasn't far worse because, believe me, I realize how bad it could have been.

Mallory cut her hair yesterday.

We've always been really careful with scissors and the girls have always been super responsible with scissors; I wouldn't even let them watch Tangled for the longest time for fear either Anna Claire or Mallory would want to cut her hair. I'm not even exactly sure when it happened because we played all over the house yesterday, and for a little while I was in the back doing some embroidery while the girls were playing within ear shot but basically out of sight.

Earlier in the day Mallory found a pair of children's scissors in an Easter basket from Granny's house ~ left there from cutting the wrappers off tricky treats. I asked her to put the scissors back in  the basket so they could both go back to Granny's next week and thought that was the end of that.

I didn't notice her hair until the afternoon when I caught sight of her from across the room. Luckily, I don't think it will be that noticeable as it grows out.{btw I found the hair under the dining room table.}

She got very upset when I questioned her and sobbed and sobbed thinking she was in BIG trouble. She did get a stern talking to, and I don't think she'll be trying that little trick again.

Last night when I was telling Walter about it, I said that Mallory got really upset and had "balled" to which Mallory replied, "I'm not bald; I'm hair~headed!"

Let's keep it that way, please!

Tangled

This is not something a haircut will help {unless we chop it off and that it not happening}. Most mornings we have tears trying to untangle the matted knots. We've tried spray detanglers, and I just ordered this brush. Maybe we should try sleeping in braids?

No Sleeping in This Saturday

Anna Claire and Mallory got hair cuts early Satruday morning {last 8am hair appointment I'll ever schedule}.
She was so excited about her curls. She kept saying over and over how beautiful her hair was.
Mallory wanted her hair kept straight. I think she just wanted to get out of the shop asap because I promised them McDonlad's for breakfast.
All she wanted was a plain biscuit, but it made up for having to get hair cuts at the break of dawn!

Let Down Your Hair

Sometimes Anna Claire lets me take my time to blow dry her hair, and when she does, it comes out long and smooth and shiny. Like this...

Of course, by the next morning it's curled up again. She says she wants hair like Rapunzel. She's got the blonde part; Mallory's got the length...
Hair cuts scheduled for March 17th!

First Salon Visit

This afternoon, Anna Claire and Mallory made their first visit to a hair salon for a little trim. I took them to Lisa who also does my hair {they thought it was so funny her name is also Lisa}.

I took before pictures before we left. Truth be told, the after pictures wouldn't look very different if I had taken any, but that's OK. I just wanted the scraggly (if that's a word} baby hair ends cut off.
Bye~bye ringlets {sniff} Of course I kept a little lock of their hair for their baby books.
Waiting our turn...
I couldn't believe it but both girls let Lisa wash their hair. I guess playing hair salon all morning helped.
I had to show this picture just so you could see how long Anna Claire's hair actually is, even though it doesn't look it when it is dry and curly...

The girls didn't really get their rest time today, and they were so sleepy at the salon. Not long after we got home I found Anna Claire asleep in the chair.
And then Mallory walked in the room dressed like Mulan. She pulled this look together from the knees down all by herself. When Mulan is fighting the Huns, she wears black shoes with white knee socks along with the rest of her gear. Those are last year's black patent leather shoes and Walter's ankle socks.

Pigtails!

Anna Claire finally let me put pigtails in her hair...then she pulled them out ten minutes after I took this picture.

French Braids

I finally got Mallory to sit still long enough (during snack time with cartoons on the tv) for French braid pigtails. Her hair is so fine it just slips through my fingers. The braids are far from perfect, but I think we did pretty well for our first try...

The Wheels on the Bus

Tomorrow morning, children everywhere will board school buses just like this one (well, not just like this one) and head back to school. Christmas break is O-V-E-R. Yuck!
I've had so much fun with the girls. We did a little shopping, went out to lunch and dinner, enjoyed the awesome holidays with family, but mostly just stayed home - which was so great! The past two weeks have been wonderful. The girls are napping better (between 1 1/2 and 2 hours, typically) and Mallory's little temper tantrums seem to be tapering off a bit. The girls have been sleeping in the mornings until about 7:15, and so have I. Tomorrow, the alarm clock will go off at 5:30. Ugh!

Not wanting to think anymore about having to say "goodbye" to vacation and "hello" to work, I'll just share a bit of Anna Claire cuteness.

She went from not having enough hair for a bow, to refusing to wear a bow once she did have enough hair, to requesting a bow to wear with her jammies immediately after hopping out of her crib in the morning!

And this is how I found her this morning...quietly looking at a book in the nursery.

Pigtails

Does it get any cuter? Mallory's hair gets longer and thicker by the day, and now it's long enough for pigtails if you can get her to sit still long enough.

There Was a Little Girl, She Had a Little Curl

Mallory wears a bow in her hair almost every day because her hair is getting so long it hangs in her eyes. I just can't decide if I want her to have bangs or not; otherwise, I would go ahead and schedule her first hair appointment.

Yesterday, Anna Claire crawled over to Mallory, pulled the bow out of her hair, and put in on top of her own head. She wants to be able to wear a hair bow like her sister, but her hair just isn't long enough yet - and probably won't be for quite some time.

So cute!

A Hairy Situation

Mallory has a head-full of hair, which tends to have a mind of its own. She can wake up from sleeping with some pretty scary hair...
This picture doesn't even do this hair-do justice. I betting on pigtails by her first birthday! Anna Claire, on the other hand, has a long way to go still.
