Catching Up

That stubborn top tooth of Anna Claire's has finally cut through. She is slowly catching up to Mallory who is still holding steady with four teeth.

Pomp and Circumstance

Today Cousin Ricky graduated from college! Wow, where does time go? I don't have any actual pictures of him because he was busy being the host of his graduation party, and I was busy chasing after Anna Claire and Mallory. I did, however, get a picture of Mallory's two front teeth. How cute are they? The picture is totally out of focus, but you can still see them... Here's Anna Claire practicing her walking...
The girls had such a good time at the party playing in Aunt Pam and Uncle Rick's backyard. That is, until it started getting late. I had taken the girls' jammies and bottles so we could change them before we left and feed them in the car. Poor Anna Claire had had it; she had a total meltdown before we left. The up side is that both girls drank great bottles in the car and were asleep before we got home.

Four

That's the number of teeth Mallory has today. I have visual confirmtion of the existence of her two central incisors - but still no pictures.

Anna Claire is still holding steady with two teeth.

Three

That's how many teeth Mallory has! She just cut her first top tooth.

I knew there was teething going on, but when I checked her gums yesterday I couldn't feel a thing. Today, sure enough, there's a little tiny tooth on top. I haven't seen it yet, but I have certainly felt it. It was dangerous to put your fingers in her mouth before. Now, she let's you know she doesn't want you anywhere near her gums by chomping down - hard!

Pictures soon, I hope.

Finally...

Here's the long overdue picture of Anna Claire's two bottom teeth. Just look at that face - she's not fussing or crying - she's making a "silly face." Anna Claire is turning out to be such a goober! I'm going to have to put some effort into getting some pictures of all her funny little faces.

And here's Mallory standing up by herself. It's kind of hard to tell because she's standing so close to the music table. This has been the hardest shot of all to capture because she doesn't stay up for very long. Typically, by the time I get my camera out, she's already plopped down on her little bottom. She's doing very well balancing herself - really using her arms and knees to sort of "settle in."
As you can see, Anna Claire will let go with one hand, but she's not quite comfortable enough yet to let go with both hands.

First Tooth

In the midst of all the sickness, sneaky little Anna Claire went and cut her first tooth. We found it Monday morning. She is so proud of herself. YAY, baby girl!!

Pictures soon...

Can You See Them?

This is the best I can do right now. My camera isn't the best at taking up-close shots, plus it's a little fuzzy just because I've uploaded it and the picture is small, but her two bottom teeth are there, still tiny and not all the way through, but they're getting there.

Hot Off the Press

Mallory has cut her second tooth in less than a week! Holy Cow! I think she's going to have a mouthful before Anna Claire cuts her first.

The girls have their six month check-up tomorrow even though they are seven months old. We had to get off schedule a bit just to be able to see the pediatrician we like best. I think it's crazy the girl that books appointments will only schedule us for two back-to-back appointments - which are hard to come by - even though we never need all that time.

Check back in tomorrow to see how much the girls have grown.

Who Needs a Teething Ring When You've Got a Sister?

Do the photos below look familiar? Remember this?

Since I still haven't been able to find the perfect teether, Mallory has taken things into her own hands. I guess she's desperate...

I never would have guessed Mallory would have cut the first tooth. Anna Claire began teething first and has been in so much more discomfort than Mallory, but I understand it can be harder on some babies than others. That first tooth is certainly there, sharper than I expected and so tiny. It's almost impossible to see both because it is very difficult to get Mallory to open her mouth and move her tongue out of the way and because the tooth itself is so small - only the tip, I guess, has cut through the gum. Hopefully I will be able to get pictures of it soon.

News Flash

Mallory has her first tooth!

I went to my mom's for lunch and Mallory was unusually fussy. I figured it was her teeth, but she wouldn't let either of us anywhere near her mouth. My mom just called to tell me she was finally able to take a peek, and sure enough, the tooth has cut the surface!

Reaching and Grabbing

Both Anna Claire and Mallory have been doing so great reaching for, grabbing, and bringing toys to their mouths. Look at how hard Mallory is trying to get her new favorite toy to her mouth. Both she and Anna Claire absolutely love this little bumble bee teether. The purple wing vibrates, and though they aren't teething (yet), they get the biggest smiles on their faces when they can feel the vibrations against their gums. I took precious video of Mallory's efforts, so as soon as I can learn to upload video, I'll have to post it.
