Sneak Peek

We love when Mrs. Lori e-mails pictures giving us a little sneak peek into the girls' day. Sure looks like they're having a great time!

Little Mommies

So this weekend it was all about the baby dolls. Anna Claire and Mallory fed them, rocked them, patted them, put them to bed with lovies, played with them, changed their diapers, and pushed them in their strollers...all weekend long.
Such good little mommies! And so darn cute!

Second Day of School

Mallory making a new friend... Playing in shaving cream...what!?!? I've got to tell you the girls came home without a speck on them anywhere.
Since the girls had four days off from school, it seemed today could be much like starting over on day one. The report from Granny and Mrs. Lori is a good one, though...perhaps a tear or two first thing in the morning, but overall, the girls did great!

First Day of School

Today was Anna Claire and Mallory's very first day of play school! It was both sad and exciting at the same time. Things got off to a great start when my alarm went off this morning and I realized the girls {and I} had slept all through the night with no interruptions.

Both Anna Claire and Mallory were very cooperative {no meltdowns} this morning, and we got to Granny's house with plenty of time to take some first~day pictures. I wish it had not been so muggy outside and we could have gotten some outdoor shots. I could tell the girls were excited about going to school ~ they were very silly in front of the camera and so cute. This was the best I could get of both of them {sort of} looking at the camera and smiling.Hugs and kisses for the camera...
Goobers...
My little angel...
Getting packed up...
Mallory was wasting no time once we got to the church. I had to chase her down the sidewalk.
Anna Claire hung back a little.
Rounding the corner headed for their classroom with Dylan bravely leading the way...When we got in the room, several little boys were already playing at the sand table and that is exactly where Anna Claire, Mallory, and Dylan planted themselves.
It looked like things were going well, so I thought it was time to sneak out. As I was asking the girls to give me a hug and kiss bye~bye Mallory shouted a big, "Goodbye," and headed off to play...such a big girl. Anna Claire gave me a sweet kiss, but as she hugged me, my poor baby girl started crying which also meant mommy started crying. I knew that meant I had to make a quick exit which was sooo hard. Mom and I walked back around the hallway and peeked in the other door...her tears were already dried up...and can you see Mallory playing on the rug in the background?
Anna Claire had a few more emotional moments, it seems, throughout the day but overall she did just fine. I am so proud of them both. They have never, ever, been left with anyone except mommy, daddy, granny, papa, grandmom, or Aunt Michelle, so today was a really big deal.
This afternoon we got an e-mail from Mrs. Lori with a couple of pictures of the girls painting...

Here's a quick recap of Lori's e~mail...
  • Mallory was like an old pro at this, she never got upset or cried
  • Anna Claire was a little upset when you guys left, but not too bad, she followed Mallory around and observed everything for a little while
  • They all did the activities for the day and Mallory was a big helper
  • We had to laugh today to because Anna Claire walks up to me and goes "I have poop in my diaper" and then later Mallory pooped and she didn't say a word
  • They liked when we played and sang songs at the end of the day

It looks like things got off to a fairly smooth start, and we are so looking forward to the girls first year of playschool!

"Meet the Teacher" Day

Anna Claire, Mallory, and Dylan all squeezed into the back of Granny's car today for "Meet the Teacher." They all did very well, and I think they are going to have so much fun this year with their teachers and their new friends.

Sneak Peek

Earlier this week, the girls got sweet post cards from their new teacher, Mrs. Lori, which has gotten them very excited about starting school next week.Earlier today, the girls got a sneak peek at their new classroom {sshhhhh...we've got connections}. They loved it, but I'm not sure they fully understand that Mommy, Granny, and Aunt Michelle won't be there next week. Dylan will though, and so will seven other little ones Tuesday and Thursdays from 9am to 12pm. Hmmm...we'll see how that goes. I am trying not to worry.

We have "Meet the Teacher" day Tuesday and their first day in the "two-day-two's" class starts Thursday. We can't wait!!!

New Morning Routine

All summer long the girls would wake up bright and early and crawl into our bed for cuddling until Anna Claire {always Anna Claire} begged for her milk and to go "out front" to play ~ and thus began our mornings.

Well, our lazy mornings are over.

I am the one up not so bright and really early these days, and instead of cuddling, the girls are parked on the bed in front of Nick Jr. so I can get ready for work. Our lazy summer mornings are over.
Only 189 days left until Summer Break '11!

Born to Shop

Anna Claire loves to pretend that she is going shopping these days. Typically, she pretends she's going to CVS to buy diapers, wipes, and diaper cream. The essentials she never "leaves home" without: her sippy, a purse with her coupons {she loves playing with my expired coupons}, her baby doll stroller which is usually carrying Pliget [sic], and a hat. Now, she's usually wearing an Easter bonnet my mom bought her, but this day I guess she couldn't find it, so she opted instead for her construction hat from Owen's birthday.

A girl after my own heart...in so many ways! Check out the new floors. Bye, bye icky carpet!

People, Places, and Quilts

Today, the girls and I ran a few errands around town including a stop by the fabric store. They were so well-behaved in a store full of plenty of "eye-candy" and played patiently while our fabric was being cut.
Afterwards, we decided to take a short walk to Walter's office, but it was so hot out the girls wanted to take a little break. ;-)

Room for Two

Tonight Walter was giving the girls "pony rides" before bedtime. As Anna Claire and Mallory started doing a little pushing and shoving, Walter says, "There's room for everyone." Anna Claire shouts, "There's rooms for everyone," and adds, "There's two rooms and one's for me."

Funny Girl

Mallory ate a huge supper tonight and "yummed" herself through the whole thing {this girl loves food}. While she was having orange slices for dessert and asking for more, more, more, I remarked that I didn't know where she was putting it. Her answer: "In my mouth."

Cute.

I Can't Believe It's Only Already August

Oh my gosh. I can't believe it is only August. It is so hot and it's not ending anytime soon. Maybe fall will come early.

We're beating the heat with the usual ~ pool, water park, and lots of air conditioning.

Here we are swimming at the family picnic. It was so hot this day. Thank goodness for the fabulous kiddie pool!

At the water park...

Yes, same bathing suits, two different days, in the same post. gasp!
And don't forget the crazy evening thunderstorms that don't necessarily cool things off, but actually makes it feel hotter. Can you imagine that!?

And...I really can't believe it's already August. I am unofficially back to work last week and this week. I love my job, but I love being home with the girls more. Back to work full time next week. :-(
